Diy Kayak Rack For Truck

Diy Kayak Rack For Truck - I have now have the thule hullavator on the truck. (these racks are an upright style, front wheel stays on the bike.) I’m posting this because i got really frustrated trying to find a rack system that fit all my requirements for a good kayak rack on my ridgeline. The bike racks had to be set pretty far rearward in order for the front wheel to clear the back of the cab. Sold it after the first trip.

I was inspired by fladeacon's excellent post (2g homemade kayak rack) where he made a folding rear rack that worked with roof racks. (these racks are an upright style, front wheel stays on the bike.) Had to go with the thule clamp on roof rack over the cab as the oem is not compatible with hullavators. So i got out the pencil and ruler.

Didn't want to spend more on the rack than on the kayak. I carried my 15.5ft kayak in the bed with an extender. Was not happy with how little support that provides for a long kayak. Had to go with the thule clamp on roof rack over the cab as the oem is not compatible with hullavators. I was looking all over the place to find a ladder rack for my 2008 ridgeline.

So i got out the pencil and ruler. In case this helps any with the bike rack questions: Honda ridgeline accessories, care and mods. Yes racks on top of a tt are a viable option.

I have now have the thule hullavator on the truck. A little more involved but nothing sticks out past the truck. I do want to at times transport our two 12' yaks separately from the trailer, and also keep the truck bed clear for my custom built (diy) bike racks, which is a pretty slick setup allowing for two hybrid mountain/comfort bikes and our dog's trailer all secure and locked in the truck's bed (not hanging over the tailgate). Had to go with the thule clamp on roof rack over the cab as the oem is not compatible with hullavators.

Looked at everything, nothing perfect.everything is a compromise. (these racks are an upright style, front wheel stays on the bike.) I was looking all over the place to find a ladder rack for my 2008 ridgeline. I started off with the factory rails, added cross rails from amazon.
