Boat Motor Stand Diy - Will definitely put this on my subscribed list. I pulled the motor off the boat today, mounted it on the stand, and wheeled it from the back yard through the house and into the garage. I put the casters with brakes on my stand. Any links to plans or description of simple design. Need to build a simple functional wood motor stand to hold two small outboards (6 and 9.5 hp). The motor i built it for is a mercury 1150 thunderbolt. When i put the outdrive back on the boat i will be putting a new tube on to allow for height adjustment. Position the motor as straight as possible, position steering arm to either end of the mounting plate until the bracket touches the plate. I put the casters with brakes on my stand.

The l arm would have to be measured to both lift the motor, but also swing to the stand so that the motor can be lowered to the middle of the stand transom bracket. I used [4] 2x4x96, [1] 2x6x96, [4] 3in casters (175 lbs capacity), [16] 5/16x1 lag screws and approximately [60] 2 1/2in deck screws. Maybe a larger motor with a cross brace on the main portion of the stand.
